Twenty CAMACOP leaders and workers and one CMA missionary, out of a total 41 participants, attended the Leadership Matters Course (LMC) held last May 22 to June 3, 2011 at Las Brisas Hotel, in Antipolo City, Metro Manila. The LMC is an international, inter- denominational, and inter- organizational training event where delegates are sharpened on people skills, purposeful living, spiritual strengthening, and personal development in order to excel in the Christian ministry. The participating organizations, among others, were Overseas Missionary Fellowship, Operation Mobilization, WyCliffe Translators, Summer Institute of Linguistics, Christian and Missionary Alliance US, and the CAMACOP.
Trainers came from different parts of the world, and also included CAMACOP leaders, like Bishop Reniel Joel A. Nebab, Rev. Joseph Vina, Rev. Joel Cabiles, and Rev. Benji de Jesus. On the other hand, the CAMACOP participants were Susan Aragon, Lenny Charis Quia, Alfonso Betet, Paul Candes, Joel Caperig, Joel Cayubin, David Dasig, Julieto Del Castillo, Jehu Diaz, Dr. Jonathan Exiomo, Eliezer Fiel, Pabiliano Galanan, Wilmer Hechanova, Fedincio Nerja, Zacarias Ocay, Ronnie Policarpio, Julius Rombo, Efraim Tardo, Roberto Tumbale, Maria Bell, Reylita Erese, and Wilhelm Verjom.
The design of the two- week course focuses on the development and strengthening of the individual Christian’s spiritual life so that he or she can become a model to many people in and out of the church. A graduate is expected to find more meaning in his calling, and have an easier time explaining his faith to others through meaningful conversation and excellent relational skills. The participants were also trained to lead, as leaders are expected to make a greater impact in and out of the ministry.
LMC is held in different countries around the world. It is held once a year in the Philippines and is designed to train leaders who will in turn train other leaders and Christians in their respective spheres of influence.
